Under 5's & Families
Our Under 5's drop-in provides a friendly, welcoming space for parents and carers of children under 5. Our aim is to enable families and carers of children under 5 to meet and interact while their children learn through play.
The Playroom Area
Our playroom area operates as a drop in for parents and carers to join in with the activities provided. We ask for a small donation for tea & coffee (staff will make this for you) and there are facilities for heating up children's bottle or food.
We encourage all our users to take part in our under five's forum which involves regular informal meeting to share ideas and offer suggestions about under five's provision.
During opening hours we provide an opportunity for children to carry out art work such as painting, drawing, cutting and pasting or Playdoh. There are also puzzles, games, musical instruments and a variety of creative toys. We have a home play corner with dressing-up clothes for role play. We also have toys and facilities for babies.
We provide families with regular recreational and educational trips which could include trips to the seaside, theatre, and National parks etc.
Women's Garden Group
We offer small garden plots to elderly local women especially Bengalis. We currently have a group of Bengali women who come to the Calthorpe Project to grow vegetables and share their experience. We also arrange visits to other community gardens around London which helps to inspire and motivate.
Drop in Opening Times
MONDAY - 10.30 - 2pm - Arts & crafts - children will learn a variety of new skills and parents/carers will be inspired to try these activities at home. Children will get dirty. (Sure Start)
TUESDAY - 10.30 - 3pm - Puzzles, toys and games. We have a wide range to equipment to help children's development as they play together with their friends.
WEDNESDAY - 10.30 - 2pm - Gardening & the environment 11-1 Little Green Fingers enables children to dig in their own garden growing vegetables to eat. All sorts of indoor activities take place in the winter months. Children will get dirty. (Sure Start)
THURSDAY - 11 - 4pm - Music, dance & stories. We have instruments and music from around the world. Story time 2pm in both English and other languages.
SATURDAY SHOPPING CRECHE - 10.30 - 1.30pm - Our creche is OFSTED registered to care for children ages 2, 3 & 4 so parents can do their shopping. Please book in advance. £2
