With the generous support of many charitable trusts, The Calthorpe Project tries to integrate and offer the wide diverse community living in the area new opportunities and experiences by providing exciting and varied educational and recreational activities.
You can download a leaflet about our activities for children and adults here.
During the 14 weeks of school holidays children can enjoy sports such as football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, swimming and rowing. With the support of James Connor and Moray Thomas, The Calthorpe Project has also been able to provide expert football coaching on Monday and Thursday evenings. We also provide a fulltime holiday play scheme with a wide variety of structured play activities, specialized workshops, arts and crafts, etc.
There are also many trips and outings to the seaside, the Jubilee Centre, London Wetland Centre, Stubbers Adventure Centre and ice skating. Last year we took 2 groups to a campsite run by Global Generation. Children can also learn many new skills in arts and crafts. During the summer months we offer a programme from 12 noon until 6 pm.
Each Saturday children can come along to the Environmental Activity Club for sports, gardening, cooking and crafts. In 2006 we received funding from the local authority for Positive Activities with Young People. Working with 11-19 year olds our youth worker develops programmes of events that the young people have specifically requested. All of our activities are free and open to all. We aim to help participants become fit and active and to make the most of their local community space as well as introducing them to other venues across London.
